‘The Shack’ have launched nine meals inspired by the flavours of America which are exclusive to Iceland. I was asked if I’d like to try them out. Silly question really because the other half wouldn’t have forgiven me if I’d said no- which I obviously wouldn’t have done.
When I agreed to review these meals I was given a delivery date on a Friday. Our first thought was to cook it all up that night and have a huge feast in front of the telly, that way we’d get to try a bit of each. However, once the delivery arrived, we sharp changed our minds as each meal is rather large and there’s no way we would have gotten through the lot of it in one sitting. So we decided to fill the freezer and share them out whenever we were too tired to cook or just too busy.
This was the perfect option as I work lates on Thursday evenings and having a quick and easy meal I can throw in the microwave is ideal. That being said, sometimes a ‘microwave meal’ is the last thing I fancy as I’ve found they can be quite tasteless and rather unappetising. Not in this case though- I’m surprised at just how tasty this range is!
Apologies for the lack of photo’s, I managed to get some of the one’s I tried however G obviously couldn’t wait to eat and when I asked for his photo’s I got a rather blank look!
“Beef burger with smoky bacon, signature BBQ pulled pork and mature cheddar cheese in a brioche bun.”
The Ultimate Burger.
Probably the messiest burger I’ve eaten in a long time- but oh so worth it! There was loads of pulled pork smothered in plenty BBQ sauce and the brioche bun finishes it just right. The only thing I would say is that it could do with another burger or a thicker one as it’s quite difficult to taste it through the BBQ pork. At £2.50 it’s a very reasonable price and filling burger.
“Pulled spicy chicken chilli and long grain rice wrapped in a flour tortilla and topped with our house smoky sauce, with garlic and chive dip and chilli salsa.”
Smoky House Pulled Chicken Burrito.
This was definitely on the spicy side. I’m usually quite a weakling with spice but I managed it- it was just right. It was however, absolutely huge and stuffed full- I didn’t manage the full thing but G made quick work of the rest. This one comes with a couple of dips and certainly worth it’s £2.50.
“Chunky chicken, spicy and smoky fajita sauce with flour wraps, with garlic & chive dip and tomato and chilli salsa.”
Chicken Fajita with Dips.
I didn’t get to try the dips with this one as you need to take them out an hour before you have the meal, to allow them to defrost. I hadn’t realised that and wasn’t patient enough to wait! They were gorgeous though and I was surprised just how many chunks of chicken were in the fajita mix. Again it was really filling and I couldn’t manage it all by myself so it’ll make a great sharer. I added some salad and extra cheese to mine but they were lovely just as they come. Full of flavour and not too spicy. This one is £2.50.
“Skin on potato wedges topped with pulled pork in a sweet and smoky BBQ sauce.”
Smokehouse BBQ Pork Wedges.
Unreal. These were absolutely unreal. I was worried that the BBQ sauce might be a bit too rich as there’s a lot of it smothering the wedges, but it wasn’t. The pulled pork and melted cheese was just gorgeous and exactly what I needed after work last week. Well worth £2.
I would definitely buy all of the above again and obviously I’ll have to buy the others so I can try everything!
I enjoyed reviewing these, can you tell?! The only thing I would complain about is the fact that I don’t have any left!
Have you tried The Shack American inspired range yet? Which is your favourite?

Christmas is fast becoming a huge deal in our household. Now we have kids, our daughter due to turn 3 just after the festive season, Christmas time is becoming just as magical as it was when I was a child. Being a parent really does make you appreciate it all so much more and we’re now trying to make this time as special as possible for our two. One huge thing which makes me feel all Christmassy is the music and sing-alongs!
A few weeks ago I was asked if I’d like to be sent a copy of Mr Tumble’s Christmas Party album to listen to with the kids. Both of my kids absolutely love Justin Fletcher in all of the roles he plays on CBeebie’s but Something Special Mr Tumble is definitely their favourite. This year he’s released his very own album with 20 classic Christmas songs which means that he can now be involved in the our family’s run up to Christmas with his singalongs!
The twenty tracks he’s recorded are;
1 Here Comes Santa Claus
2 Do You Want to Build a Snowman
3 Santa Claus is Coming to Town
4 Winter Wonderland
5 Frosty the Snowman
6 It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas
7 A Sleigh Ride Together with You
8 White Christmas
9 I Can’t Wait for Christmas
10 Silent Night
11 Let it Snow
12 Jingle Bells
13 All I want for Christmas Is My 2 Front Teeth
14 Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree
15 Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer
16 12 Days of Christmas
17 Little Drummer Boy
18 The Xmas Song
19 Have Yourself a Merry Little Xmas Time
20 We Wish You a Merry Xmas
The kids absolutely love it- granted Billy is only 9 months but he has a boogie along and loves watching his sister dance. Violet loves every single song, with the second being her favourite as it’s a song from her favourite film, Disney’s Frozen. As soon as she realised that it was Mr Tumble singing the songs her face lit up and the dancing became much more ‘jumpy jumpy’ as she calls it! Especially when she noticed that Lord Tumble, Aunt Polly and Grandad Tumble all join in too.
This album is the perfect for any young family either in the run up to Christmas to get you all feeling festive like us or as a stocking filler to make Christmas Day itself a fantastic party- especially to help you work off all of that dinner! There’s a song for everyone with an added Mr Tumble twist!
You can find the album for yourself on Amazon – your little one’s will love you for it!

Christmas is coming. Like really quickly! I can’t believe how fast this year has gone! I started my Christmas shopping early this year for the kids but I’m still shopping for everyone else.
So here’s my gift guide, a selection of goodies that I’ve come across recently. It might just provide you with some inspiration!
Espensen Spirit are a recently launched- Bristol based booze company. You’re interested, right? Well, they produce a range of vodkas, gins and whiskies with a twist. They’re available in 50cl, 20cl and 5cl bottles which in my opinion, makes them a perfect Christmas gift- for the over 18’s obviously. Prices start from £4 and you can get a 5cl miniature collection, which has a bottle of each flavour, for just £16.I’ll be sharing my miniature collection with the family on Christmas Day 🙂
The flavours available are;
Gin Genie – Blueberry Gin– “perfect for the dachshund/dog lover, Bowie fan or the gin enthusiast”
Ruby Cuby – Rhubarb & Custard Vodka– “for those wanting a special celebratory festive drink, you can use it to create a Ruby Cubellini by adding it to Prosecco or Champagne!”
PG Sips – Pink Grapefruit & Raspberry Vodka– “ideal for your cat loving friend or relative – or anyone who fancies a deliciously fruity vodka tipple”
Pump Up the Jam – Raspberry Gin – “this drink goes down equally well with gin lovers or those who just fall in love with the label – it features an 80’s B-boy and a homage to the artist Keith Haring. For anyone who wants to score cool points with their younger relatives, this is the one.”
And here’s why Espensen think that they’re the ideal Christmas gift;
“First of all – they taste blooming delicious – made using fresh fruit and a seriously good base alcohol from Langley Distillery, and they contain absolutely no artificial colours or flavours
From a really special 50cl bottle of Ruby Cuby as a main present, to our 5cl miniature collection as a stocking filler or Secret Santa, or even a single sample – we have something for every budget
The branding is ‘silly but stylish’ and we describe it as post-punk pop art – there are SO many references to film, music and animals, that there is bound to be a drink that appeals to everyone – from David Bowie fans to cat lovers to art appreciators – we have a drink with their name on it
Espensen Spirit is all hand made in Bristol by Sam Espensen – she puts so much care in to them and has spent years developing and perfecting the recipes
Donations from every 50cl and 20cl bottles are made to various small charities based in the South West, including the homeless Caring in Bristol, Holly Hedge Animal Sanctuary, the Racehorse Rehoming Centre and a local cancer charity
Our beautiful Italian glass bottles are unbranded – so if you purchase a 50cl or a 20cl bottle for a special person in your life, they can re-use it as a vase, or for oils or vinegars.”
You can find out more about Espensen Spirit and their amazing alcohol creations here. Don’t forget to get yourself a little bottle of each. You have to taste them before you gift them, right?!
I love a gadget and this Amazon Echo looks amazing. You may have seen it advertised on TV– she’s called Alexa. Well it’s connected to Alexa voice service which can provide you with information, play music, sports scores, news, weather and more. If you have Prime you can also ask her to order products for you using Prime. Clever huh?!
Handcrafted jewellery by Rebecca Miller. Absolutely beautiful handcrafted jewellery might I add. Each piece is individually made by Rebecca using reclaimed silver, copper, semi precious stones and vintage finds- which means that no two pieces are the same- ideal Christmas gift indeed.
“Your jewellery should be a reflection of who you are – beautiful, inspiring and unique.”
Rebecca very kindly sent me a piece so I could see how beautiful they are for myself. Now I’m not a massive fan of jewellery, the only thing I really wear is my charm bracelet, yet I’ve fallen in love with this piece. I was going to gift it to one of the ladies in my family for Christmas, but I love it so much I’m considering keeping it for myself!
You can find Rebecca’s gorgeous creations on her website here. You can use the code TENOFF for 10% off too!
Boxcitement is a monthly subscription box full of surprise stationery and other goodies- a rather exciting box, hence the name! You can purchase them in monthly subscriptions or one off gifts and the longer you subscribe, the more you save.
Where do the contents come from? In their own words;
“Ah well, that’s what makes our boxes so special. Our Boxscientists are constantly coming up with new ideas and designs and working with a select team of suppliers, makers and printers who create our inventions just for Boxcitement. Numbers are limited and they can only be purchased through us – how exclusive is that!”
These boxes really are gorgeous and make the perfect gift for the ladies. You can find out more here.
MotherlyLove was founded by Jan, a loving mother, grandmother and midwife of 40 years. She’s also a registered aromatherapist and has created some beautiful oils for mothers and mothers-to-be.
I’ve been testing the Footloose massaging oil as now I’ve gone back to work, being on my feet all of the time means they ache constantly! It smells lovely and leaves my feet feeling super soft.
Prices start from £7.50 and they have some lovely gift sets available which would be perfect for any Mother or Mother-to-be. You can find the full range here.
If you’re doing a Secret Santa this year, this might just be the perfect gift! Okay so, Text-A-Potato, you’re thinking WTF?! So in their own words;
“STUCK FOR A GIFT IDEA? POTATO. BAD BREAKUP? POTATO. PROPOSAL? POTATO
SOMEONE’S LEAVING THE OFFICE? POTATO. WANT TO CREEP YOUR FRIENDS OUT? POTATO
IT’S ANONYMOUS AND TOTALLY HILARIOUS”
You can literally send a potato to anyone, no matter what the occasion. I was sent the Christmas edition as an example and it’s freaking hilarious. Prices for the Santa potatoes start at £7.99 and there’s limited stock so order yours quick from here.
EasiYo Yoghurt Maker
These EasiYo Yoghurt makers are amazing. We have the large red one in our house and it’s so handy for us having two kids who absolutely love yoghurt. However, for those who don’t have kids or just don’t have the need for 1kg of yoghurt each time, you can also get a mini maker which makes 500g.
They’re super easy to use and the EasiYo flavour range is huge! I reviewed the large red EasiYo maker a few weeks ago which you can read here.
You can also check out the full EasiYo range here.
This is the perfect gift for those loved ones you just know are going to start banging on about the ‘diet starting in the new year’, like they do every year. I can say that because I’m totally guilty of this myself and I really want one of these to get kickstarted in January! The Fitbit Flex Wireless Activity and Sleep Tracker basically records your daily activity and sleep. It records your steps taken, distance travelled, calories burned and allows you to track your goals using online tools and mobile apps.
Ocushield is a screen protector which blocks harmful blue light which is emitted from the digital devices we use everyday. This is a rather sensible gift for anyone. Whilst also protecting your screen, by blocking these harmful blue light rays, this can result in protecting your vision and eyes and helping you get a better night’s sleep if you use your devices in bed before sleep.
Apparently the Welsh Rugby Team use these on their iphones; this might just be a great gift for my other half then sayings as he’s welsh, rugby obsessed and always glued to his phone!
To find out more on OcuShield, visit their website here.
I hope this has given you a few ideas!

Oh how I LOVE Christmas! Everything about it makes me feel all giddy and excited; from the songs, the television adverts, the food (obviously) and of course, the tacky Christmas jumpers! This year is an amazing one for us because Violet is coming up three in January so she understands more of what’s happening and she’s getting so excited and it’s Billy’s first Christmas!
And thanks to Asda’s Little Angels nappies, Billy is getting into the Christmas spirit early!
I know he’s far too young to have any idea what’s going on but I love that I can dress him up all festive, even if just for photo purposes! The theme this year is ‘Santa’s Little Helper’ and they’re super cute! Even the back is decorated; as modelled by Billy 🙂
This Christmas range is only available in the Little Angels Supreme protection nappies in sizes 4+, 5+ and 6+ and whilst they have this gorgeous festive design this doesn’t affect their quality at all. I swear by the Asda Little Angels range and have used them for both of my kids. They’re the only nappies I’ve tried where I’ve never come across a problem, whether it be rubbing, hanging loose or bursting during the middle of the night!
They provide superior comfort with up to 12 hours dryness- which means they might actually sleep through when Santa comes! Wishful thinking, I know.
They also have super stretchy sides and secure back elastic which means there’s less chance of leaks and poop-splosions creeping up their vest and they fit around Billy’s chubby little legs without gripping too much and rubbing. These nappies even come with a handy colour coded waistband which helps us parents identify when it’s time to move to the next size up.
The Little Angels Christmas nappies are priced at £3.50 a pack and you can pick them up online or in your local store now!
Have you tried Little Angels nappies before? What do you think of this years Christmas design?

A couple of months ago I wrote a review of two LeapFrog toys; Count and Colours Band and Melody the Musical Turtle. These toys are still going strong and are played with every single day in our house, by both kids. So when I was asked if I’d like to test out and review some more- it was an obvious yes!
Again, I was sent a toy to suit each of my children as Billy is coming up nine months and Violet is two. Although they do like to share and play with all of the LeapFrog toys, so age range isn’t a problem. Here are the two we have tried out this time;
LeapFrog Fridge Numbers Magnetic Set
This is the one we received for Violet. It’s aimed at 2+ years and is super cute! You’ll notice Scout the little dog who was on the toy Billy was sent last time, Scouts Count and Colours Band. He’s a very popular character within the LeapFrog range.
“With magnetic play that sticks to the fridge or any other magnetic surface, little ones can help themselves to endless servings of numbers, colours and food groups.”
Violet absolutely loves playing with this one as she’s obsessed with all things numbers at the moment. She also loves that it sticks onto the fridge and freezer so when I’m cooking dinner she usually brings it in, sticks it onto the freezer and has a bit of a play and dance. It comes with ten blocks, each with a number between 1 and 10 and another ten blocks with different foods on, each amounting to a different number between 1 and 10. You can see Violet playing with the ‘four broccoli’ block below which is her favourite because she loves broccoli!
You can place each block into the middle and press it so Scout can tell you what it is and if you press the music button he’ll start singing a song. He even has some little phrases and jokes to tell!
As usual I totally love this one as it’s helping Violet with her numbers massively. She’s fantastic at counting but still unsure which number is which when they are written down. With the help of this toy she is starting to recognise them as Scout tells her which one she has put in and she counts along with the picture blocks.
Count and Crawl Kitty
This is the one we received for Billy. It’s aimed at 9+ months, helps little ones explore numbers and includes lots of phrases and songs.
“Kids 9 months and up can press Kitty’s colourful keys to hear fun and frisky phrases about numbers 1-20, explore mew-sical notes from high to low and create their own tunes. Younger babies will love sitting and batting Kitty’s yarn to hear special counting and learning songs, such as “Tummy, Whiskers, Tongue and Paws”.”
As Billy is now on the move, he loves to push this one along whilst pressing the buttons and spinning the yarn ball on the front. Violet likes pushing this one so Billy then has to crawl to get it, which he finds hilarious!
You can change the settings between music and numbers too. When it’s set to music the kitty will play different tunes depending on which buttons are pressed. When it’s set to numbers it tells little one which number they have pressed and sings a counting song. Billy likes to have a little boogie no matter which setting it’s on and it’s not just for babies already on the move as they can sit and press the buttons just the same but it’s a great toy to help start the crawling!
Like the other two we have, these toys will grow with both of my kids which is perfect. There’s nothing worse than your little one getting bored of a toy pretty quickly and I really don’t think they will with these! They’re perfect for Christmas too so make sure you check out the full LeapFrog range. I’ve just bought LeapFrog LeapTV for Violet’s birthday in January and I can’t wait to have a go! You’ll have to wait until after her birthday for that review though 🙂
Do your little ones like LeapFrog toys? Which one is their favourite?

A couple of weeks ago I was asked if I’d like a yoghurt maker to try out and review. I’d never heard of EasiYo before but my two kids absolutely love having yoghurts for breakfast, lunch and supper so I thought it would be a must-have for us.
I received the red EasiYo maker with two flavours of yoghurt; Vanilla and Blueberries and Cream. Rather conveniently, the kids ate the last few yoghurts we had for their supper last night so I decided it was the perfect time to try out the maker so there would be yoghurt for breakfast. I was hoping anyway- I have a tendency to mess things up the first time I try them out!
I let Violet choose the flavour and she chose the Blueberries and Cream as she loves fruit.
The box contents are pretty simple; the EasiYo maker, the tub to put the yoghurt powder in and some instructions. The maker itself is really lightweight and has grippers on the bottom to stop it sliding around. Or in my case keeps it still whilst the big one kept trying to push it around, curiosity at it’s best as usual.
I found that the instructions are super easy to follow which I was really pleased about, my brain doesn’t work as well as it should at the end of the day!
The Steps for using the EasiYo
Half fill the jar with tepid water and add the full sachet
Secure the lid onto the jar and shake well
Fill the jar with more tepid water to the top, secure the lid and shake again
Push the spacer into the maker and pour in boiling water to the top of the spacer
Place the jar on top of the spacer
Secure the lid onto the maker and leave overnight
First thing this morning the rather excited toddler was asking for yoghurt for breakfast. I pretty much had my fingers crossed that it had worked and we weren’t going to be throwing away the contents.
You could cut the tension with a knife when opening the maker. I’d already warned the big one that we might have to settle for toast…
Fear not, this Mama can also make yoghurt! Using the EasiYo maker I can anyway! The yoghurt itself is full of flavour and super creamy- I obviously joined the kids in having a bowl for breakfast, for review purposes, ahem. You get a lot of yoghurt out of one pack mix too so the rest is in the fridge and should probably last us until early next week. Now we just need to go shopping for more flavours!
You can find the full range of EasiYo makers and yoghurt flavours on their website. You can even get a mini maker which is ideal for making smaller quantities.
Have you tried the EasiYo before? What’s your favourite flavour?

If you’re a regular reader of my blog, last month you’ll have seen my review of the Neo Lava Lamp from Mathmos. Well now’s your chance to get your hands on your very own! Just follow the Rafflecopter link below and complete the steps to enter! Good luck 🙂
I know, I know- cake again! How can you say no to cake though? Honestly? Of course I jumped at the chance when the lovely ladies at The Cake Tasting Club offered to send me a box to review and as it was October, this box was a little spookier than usual!
The box I received was beautifully packaged and even contained some little paper bats and a balloon for the Halloween theme. Each baked good is individually packaged and has a list of ingredients on the reverse. It even came with a Spiced Apple tea bag which is absolutely perfect for an Autumn cuppa.
Now as I’m a parent, it was quite a fight between me and Violet as to who got to taste what first. As you can imagine I didn’t get much say so didn’t get to taste the Spooky Gingerbread Ghost although I did get to sample the Oreo graveyard soil- good job I like Oreos! I hid the Cherry brain cake which I’m sooo glad I did because it was heavenly- the perfect piece of cake and really reminded me of something my Nana used to make when I was young. It was lovely and moist and the cherry icing really was the icing on the cake! I could have ate so much more of it. I also managed to get half of the Chocolate Orange Brownie and had to share the rest with both of my kids as Billy had his eye on it too. You can never go wrong with a brownie and this one was definitely no exception. A gorgeous gooey brownie infused with orange flavouring and chocolate orange segments- the perfect autumn treat!
What is The Cake Tasting Club? Or who should I say. Well, it’s a monthly subscription box filled with home baked cakes and it’s owned and ran by two lovely ladies, Vikki and Dom who both love to bake and came up with the idea so they can share their baking yumminess with us! How lucky are we?! They basically thought of the idea as not everyone has the time or skill to bake themselves and sometimes it’s nice to be able to have a slice without the rest of the cake staring you in the face- it’s true, I have no willpower!
“We bake all of the cakes by hand in the Cake Tasting HQ kitchen which has a five star cleanliness rating. Our cakes are always traditionally handmade as if you had baked them at home. We always use proper ingredients just like you would use and our eggs are always free range.”
How fabulous that these baked goodies aren’t created in a factory, using standard ingredients, they’re made in their own HQ kitchen. Clearly with lot’s of love going into each and every box! There are different options for you to choose from; The Classic which is the one I received with three different bakes to try each month; The Cake for one which is one slice of cake for you to try each month and The Brownie Box which is three different flavours of brownie each month. As it’s coming up to Christmas there’s also options to purchase a one off box or subscriptions as gifts for your loved ones; one month, three months, six months or twelve months.
Vikki and Dom even have a pledge for The Cake Tasting Club;
“Our bakes will always be;
Made from proper ingredients
Never the same- we will not repeat a bake for at least 12 months”
What are you waiting for? Check them out here and stop resisting the cake! 🙂
As it’s coming up to Christmas I’ve recently been sent quite a few different products to try out and feature in my Christmas Gift Guides- watch out for them coming early November!
This one is called Gel-A-Peel and it’s aimed at ages 8 and above. I was supposed to be keeping this one as a gift for my niece but hey, I’m over 8 and quite frankly couldn’t resist trying it out!
I was sent a Neon accessory kit which contains everything you need to design your own funky creations; 3 Neon Gel tubes, a good selection of templates, 5 designer tips and some extra pieces to make earrings and such.
“Add a pop of color to your wardrobe with this Gel-a-Peel Accessory Kit. Design and create your own fashionable accessories. So easy to get started, just trace the templates, peel the gel design, and it’s ready to wear and share! If you’re into bright colors, the Gel-a-Peel Neon Accessory Kit will certainly gel with your style!”
Before you get started you need to put the plastic sheet you get within the pack, under warm water, so you can straighten it out as this is what you use to draw your designs onto. Then you can get going! It really is as simple as it sounds; Choose which tip to use and attach it to the gel tube and get creative. After around 15-20 minutes your design will then be dry enough for you to peel off the plastic and wear as you wish! I’m really impressed with the kit, it’s so easy to use and there’s no mess involved at all.
The templates included are really easy to follow and even tell you which direction to work in to help avoid the gel being smudged. They also include tips and ideas on different ways you can use the gel, like dotting it for a different effect.
I had a bit of an experiment with the different tips and colours and could have played with it for hours so I know this is a great one for my niece. Only thing is, now I need to buy a whole new pack for her Christmas present as I can’t part with this one, I have loads of ideas I want to try haha!
Check out their website here to find out more about the different packs available and where you can buy them 🙂

Let me introduce to you Billy’s new wheels- the Britax Affinity 2. Well, I say new, but we’ve been testing this beaut out for the past couple of month and I can officially say that I am in LOVE! It’s suitable from 6 months to 3 years (17kg) and can be both rear and forward facing. You can also clip compatible Britax car seats and a hard carrycot (sold separately) directly onto the frame so the system can be used from newborn.
Now I’ll admit that when the system arrived I didn’t actually build it- I passed it straight to my other half G- he likes to build things! I think he was quite disappointed in a way though as he said it was ridiculously easy to put together and it only took him five minutes. Can’t complain with that at all as I’m a bit impatient and was ready to take Billy out for a stroll 🙂
“The BRITAX AFFINITY 2 travel system has been designed to give parents the best of both worlds. Sleek style and colour customisation. Along with dual suspension performance for city and country terrain. So you’re free to take every day in your stride.”
The colours. You can choose from Black, White or Silver for the frame and there are six colours to choose from for the fabric; Lagoon Green, Cosmos Black, Flame Red, Wood Brown, Ocean Blue or Mineral Lilac. As you can probably tell, I chose the white frame with the Lagoon Green fabric which is so bold and bright- it’s absolutely gorgeous! The fabric colour packs can also be bought separately which will come in handy for when you need to give them a wash due to the messy toddlers or just to mix and match- I’m quite tempted to buy the Ocean Blue next!
The colour pack fabric is really easy to fit, everything basically pops into place including the apron which I think is much better than a cosy toes as it doesn’t slip down whilst you’re trying to strap the little one in- you can simply pop it on when they’re strapped in. The seat cushion is thickly padded and looks super comfy and again, stays in place perfectly so doesn’t move around and the harness straps simply slide on. There’s even a bit to fit into the basket on the bottom so the whole system has a touch of colour.
The seat can be switched to either forward facing or rear facing really easily- there’s a button either side which you push at the same time and the seat clips off- you can then put it which way you like and click it into place. There’s even a little ventilation window or ‘spy pocket’ as I like to call it, on the back of the hood, (which is also adjustable and UPF 50+ sun protection), so you can peek on little one whilst they’re forward facing. The handle is adjustable too which is a huge bonus for us with G being so tall he likes to have it as high as possible and I like to have it in the middle. It also comes in handy when Billy wants to sit right up as you can lower it so it’s out of the way. The whole system is very light and so easy to push- whilst it looks quite big it’s a rather impressive, nippy pushchair and the front wheels move with ease making it simple to manoeuvre.
Both the seat and footrest are multi-recline which makes the system comfortable for little one whether they’re awake or sleeping. You can tip it right back for when they’re sleeping and sit it right up for when they’re wide awake and want to see what’s going on. Same with the footrest, you can adjust that to whatever is more comfortable.
When it comes to folding you need to take the seat off to do so. Once the seat is off you simply push the two buttons on either side of the frame and the frame will collapse smoothly and automatically lock into place once it’s folded as far as it will go. I was highly surprised at how compact it is once folded and pretty impressed that it’s also free standing when locked (not in my picture though as I hadn’t adjusted the handle). It will fit into pretty much any boot it’s so compact however you need to remember that you’ve also got the seat to fit in there too!
The day after we received the Affinity 2 we were going on holiday and decided to take it with us so we could test it out properly as we knew we’d be having quite a few days out and using it to the max. Our holiday was in the UK so we took the raincover too. (which is fitted and doesn’t flap around might I add!) We really did use the pushchair A LOT and I’m surprised it came back in one piece! We took it on a hill walk, along the beach, to the sea life centre, on a train at a miniature railway, to soft play, shopping, we basically used it everyday, wherever we went and it was even used inside the caravan for Billy to take his naps!
Overall, as you can probably tell, I’m highly impressed with the Britax Affinity 2! I can’t fault it in any way and honestly cannot find one negative about the system. G’s even impressed- he keeps making comments on how amazing the suspension is- I have no idea, I just know it’s totally lightweight and easy to push/steer and is now the pushchair we use everyday. As you can see by the picture below Billy is perfectly happy and approves massively!
You can find the Affinity 2 and all of the other Britax products on their website here.
Which colours would you choose?
